KIMBERLY (WLUK) -- A homeowner survived a terrifying episode during Wendesday's storms -- when the roof was sheared off a nearby car wash and she watched it head straight for her house.

The roof came from the Best Wash on Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly and landed on a house about 50 feet away, behind the business.

A relative of the homeowner says she and her cat are both fine. The home's roof is damaged and some trusses are broken.

The village's building inspector told the homeowner the roof won't be able to be moved until at least Thursday, as it may be holding up part of the house's roof. It's unknown so far how extensive the structural damage to the house is.

The homeowner is able to stay in the back part of the house.
