DE PERE (WLUK) -- Gyms at two De Pere schools are closed as school officials investigate whether the roofs are sagging from Blizzard Evelyn's heavy snow.

Superintendent Benjamin Villarruel says someone noticed Wednesday morning that the curtains in the high school gym were lower than normal. Students and staff members were immediately cleared from the gym. The gym and weight room remain closed.

Post-prom activities scheduled for Saturday in the gym may have to be moved. No final decision has been made.

There are also concerns about the gym roof at Foxview Intermediate School.

The district is working to remove snow from the roofs. Structural engineers are also being called in to ensure the roof is safe before the gyms and high school weight room will be reopened.

Editor's note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that the school's prom had been postponed.
