LOS ANGELES (WLUK) -- Green Bay Packers wide receiver Trevor Davis was arrested over the weekend for making a comment about explosives at Los Angeles International Airport.

Airport police tell FOX 11 News Davis was at a ticket counter around 9:30 a.m. Sunday when he said to his female companion, "did you remember to pack the explosives?"

Davis was released later in the day on $15,000 bail. He is due back in court May 3 on misdemeanor charges.

Davis was headed to Hawaii, according to airport police.

The Packers organization released a statement Monday, which read: "We are aware of the matter involving Trevor Davis. We are in the process of gathering more information and will refrain from making any further comment as it is an ongoing legal matter.”

Officers told CNN the comment may have been a joke.
