GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- The Green Bay Packers have officially kicked off their drive against a different kind of opponent: cancer.

The team says its Packers Vs. Cancer campaign began Tuesday. Limited-edition Vince Lombardi cancer awareness hats were made available for purchase at the Packers Pro Shop, with $5 from each hat sale going to the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation.

The organization also announced a text-to-donate campaign to benefit the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation. The Packers plan to match up to $10,000 in fan donations. To donate, text "Packers" to 50555 between Oct. 16-22.

At the Packers' Oct. 22 game against the New Orleans Saints, cancer survivors will be recognized on the field. Fans at the game will be able to honor someone who has been affected by cancer by writing names on the game giveaway banner. Additionally, the Packers will present a check from their fundraising efforts to the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation at the game.
