Packers undrafted rookie cornerbacks ready to perform

GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- The Packers could roll into a must win game in Cleveland Sunday with only four cornerbacks active.

Kevin King was placed on injured reserve and Davon House has yet to practice this week.

That may leave only Damarious Randall, Josh Hawkins and two undrafted rookies, Lenzy Pipkins and Donatello Brown healthy for Sunday's game.

“I mean they’re ready, they’ve been on the 53, they’re practicing," said head coach Mike McCarthy. "Everybody’s ready, we have no choice but to be ready. It’s just how seasons go, the challenges all teams go through with injuries, but it’s week 13 so they’re ready.”

“That’s why we’re here, you always have to be prepared," said cornerback Donatello Brown. "Next man up, I’m not getting side tracked or anything, just staying the course and doing my job no matter what the situation is. I’ll always come here every day to compete and get better.”

Lenzy Pipkins, out of Oklahoma State, was a surprise addition to the Packers 53-man roster out of training camp and Donatello Brown was activated to the active roster from the Training camp earlier last month.

“I have a point to prove. Being an undrafted guy you have to show a little more," said Brown. "But it’s an exciting week whether it’s the Cleveland Browns or somebody else. I’m mentally focused and it’s going to stay that way throughout my career. I can’t get too comfortable. I’m preparing the best way I can.”

“I think they’ve been coming along very well just from the time they stepped in in training camp," said safety Morgan Burnett. "They kept their head down and kept pushing and kept working and those guys are willing to learn, willing to listen. They have that fight in them so you know they’re going to give you everything that they have and that’s what you appreciate as teammates.”

Mike McCarthy said Thursday it would be a long shot for Demetri Goodson to play Sunday after being taken off the physically unable to perform list Wednesday. If that holds true, that could mean even more snaps for Brown and Pipkins.

You can watch Sunday's game on FOX 11. Kickoff is set for noon.
