NEENAH (WLUK) -- Hundreds of fishermen are heading out on Lake Winnebago for the start to the sturgeon spearing season.

FOX 11's Lauren Kalil was live from Paynes Point Hook and Spear getting an inside look at the starting hours to the season.

While water clarity conditions are less than ideal, anglers are still enthusiastic about trying to spear that sturgeon.

According to the DNR, the clarity level was between 3 and 9 feet as of Friday.
