De Pere, Wis.--St. Norbert baseball head coach Tom Winske has resigned his position to become an assistant coach at Central Michigan.
He leaves the Green Knights as the coach with the most wins in Midwest Conference baseball history, posting a 444-287-1 record in 20 seasons. He led St. Norbert to five NCAA D3 tournaments and won four MWC championships. The team won 30 games in 2017.
St. Norbert alumnus Jordan Bischel (Class of 2003) was named head coach of Central Michigan in June.
"It is with mixed emotions I accept Tom's resignation," St. Norbert athletics director Tim Bald said. "He has had many great seasons and has provided a quality experience for many student-athletes during his time here. These opportunities do not come around often, especially with someone you are familiar with. While we are sad for us, we are very happy for Tom and his opportunity."
Bald said a search for a replacement will begin immediately.
