AUGUSTA, Ga. - A dream came true for one local golfer Sunday.

Nine-year old Aliisa Helminen had the chance to take to the greens at fabled Augusta National Golf Club.

"The whole thing was awesome, putting on the 18th green was just amazing," Helminen said

After qualifying through the local, regional and super regionals, the Menasha native advanced to the finalist stage of the 2018 Drive, Chip & Putt competition.

Helminen scored a total of 16 points in the three areas, tying her for sixth overall in the girls 7-9 age bracket.

Breaking down her totals, she scored eight in the driving section, while adding an addition seven for putting and one point in the chipping portion of the tournament.

Ella June Hannant of Pikeville, North Carolina won the group with a combined 25 total points.

For Helminen, she'll have to wait another year for a national title, she'll be eligible to qualify until she's 15-years old, but there's a lot to be proud of moving forward.

"It's going to help me, its going to keep my confidence up and now I know some goals to work on," Helminen said.
