GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Nearly 1,500 pairs of mittens were collected during the Green Bay Gambler's Mitten Toss.

The annual event asks fans to toss pairs of mittens onto the ice to donate to those in need in Northeast Wisconsin.

The team collected 1,461 pairs of mittens on the winning Dec. 30 home game against the Tri City Storm.

The team will continue to collect mittens at its home game on Friday. Mittens can be dropped off at the Gamblers team store, located in the Resch Center lobby.

Since the event's inception in 2009, the Mitten Toss has collected nearly 13,000 pairs of mittens.
