OSHKOSH (WLUK) -- The UW-Oshkosh softball team's season came to an end Saturday, falling to Concordia Wisconsin 1-0 in the NCAA Regional Championship game.

The story of the game was pitching, as Concordia's Gina Followell struck out nine and earned her 27th win of the season, an NACC record.

The Titans stranded eight runners on base.

"Probably the most frustrating thing of the day was that we did have runners on, the bases loaded a few times, and we blinked a little in those situations," said head coach Scott Beyer. "A tough way to go out because you know, it was there. One hit and we could have taken the lead.

"This game was super fun when it comes to energy and playing with some emotion and swagger. If we had to lose a game, to go out like that we can hold our heads high for sure."

The Falcons' lone run came in the first inning, on a Claudia Utz RBI single.

Seymour native Sydney Nemetz gave up five hits, one run and struck out seven.

The Titans season ends with a 36-9 record, tying the most wins in program history.

"Everyone from last year and just added more and the strides we have made as a team has just been amazing," said Hannah Ritter, who had her fifth consecutive perfect game at the plate. "Again I wouldn't have wanted to go out with a different group of girls, it's been great."
