St. Norbert ready for top-ranked Harris Cup showdown at Adrian
ASHWAUBENON - The St. Norbert men's hockey team knows plenty about winning this time of year. The No. 2 Green Knights will be looking for their seventh NCHA title in nine years Saturday when they travel to No. 1 Adrian for the Harris Cup Playoff Championship.
"One of our favorite places to play, there's no doubt there's going to be people in the stands, right away when you get there it's a big environment," junior forward Steven Phillips said. "The blood is flowing right now, the guys are pretty pumped up, so we're going to try and bring that into Saturday."
It'll be a matchup of two of the top teams in the country, each riding among the longest winning streaks in Division III hockey.
SNC has rattled off eight straight wins since their loss to the Bulldogs. Meanwhile, Adrian currently has won 16 games in a row.
"We always seem to play each other in big games," head coach Tim Coghlin said. "Played twice already this year, we beat them 4-3 in overtime at our place and then they beat us 3-2 in overtime at their place back in January, so should be a heck of a championship night."
Puck drop is set for 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Arrington Ice Arena.
