St. Norbert edges Adrian in overtime for NCHA crown

ADRIAN, Mich. - The No. 2 St. Norbert men's hockey team (24-4-1) defeated No. 1 Adrian College (25-4) 2-1 in overtime Saturday afternoon to win the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs Championship at Arrington Ice Arena.

Timmy Nicksic's game-wining goal 3:18 into the extra session clinched the Green Knights seventh conference championship in the past nine seasons.

St. Norbert goaltender T.J. Black made 26 saves and was named NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive season. Nick LeSage and Tanner Froese also joined Black on the six-man NCHA All-Tournament Team.

With the victory, SNC locks up the NCHA's automatic berth to the 2018 Division III NCAA Tournament and will find out their seeding and placement in the 12-team bracket Monday at 9: 30 a.m.
