DE PERE (WLUK) - The St. Norbert Green Knights men's basketball team will play their first game on campus on Wednesday since 2016.

Head Coach Gary Grzesk's team returns to campus to play in the new Mulva Family & Fitness Sports Center.

"I know the guys are looking forward to playing in a game, in our new facility. Last year was very difficult, all of our non-conference games were on the road, so to be able to open this season here at home with a good homestand is pretty important, " said Grzesk.

St. Norbert returns it's leading scorer in senior guard D.J. DeValk, who averaged 15.2 ppg last year. The Little Chute high school star says it will be great to play back on campus once again.

"it's so important, the crowd is such a big factor in our games, they are always so loud and they are so much fun, and not having that or having that 20 minute drive last year, it will be nice to have them back in full effect, " DeValk said.

The Green Knights lose three players that started over 20 games a year ago, but the players coming back believe this could be a special season, even with a hard non-conference schedule early on.

"This is going to be one of the toughest schedules, we are all looking forward to it to prove that we are one of the best team's in the nation, " said senior forward Mitchell Reinthaler.

St. Norbert will host UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. They will play Benedictine on Saturday at 4 p.m.
