SNC headed back to final four

DE PERE - With a 6-1 win Saturday night against Augsburg, the St. Norbert College men's hockey team earned another trip to the Division 3 final four.

The finals will be played Friday & Saturday at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Despite outshooting Augsburg 16-3 in the first period, the first stanza ended 0-0.

The Auggies (17-9-2)scored just :39 into the second period to take a 1-0 lead, but the Green Knights rolled from there. SNC led 4-1 after two periods, and then added two more in the third for the 6-1 final.

Tony Kujava had 15 saves for St. Norbert, (24-3-2). Pijus Rulevicius, Riley Christensen and Ross Pavek each had two goals for SNC.

The national semifinals are Friday. SNC plays UMass-Boston, while UW-Stevens Point - which upset Adrian Saturday night - faces SUNY Geneseo in the other semifinal.

It will be SNC's tenth appearance in the final four, having won titles in 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2014.
