Pete Petoniak

Director of Meteorology


Pete Petoniak is FOX 11's Director of Meteorology. He heads up a four-person team of meteorologists dedicated to providing northeast Wisconsin's most reliable severe weather coverage.

Pete is a two-time Emmy-nominee and his Weather Whys series, which explains different weather concepts in a clear and easy-to-understand way, has won a Wisconsin Broadcasters Association award. He has earned his meteorological seal of approval from the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.

Pete has co-hosted Good Day Wisconsin since 1995. He got his start in broadcasting at WHIZ in Zanesville, Ohio. As Operations Manager of WHIZ Radio he led the station to win the National Association of Broadcasters' Marconi Award for "Small Market Station of the Year."

Pete is a frequent master of ceremonies and loves to talk about weather and television to school groups and other organizations. He earned his BA in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science from The Ohio State University and his Broadcast Meteorology certificate from Mississippi State University.

In his spare time he enjoys sports, the Packers, and working out at the Y. Pete and his wife Sarah are the proud parents of two sons, Jacob Steven and Henry Peter and one daughter Georgia Anne.
