Driver charged with intoxication manslaughter after woman dies in head-on crash
UPDATE: On Monday, Police identified the suspect as Alejandro Torres Almazan, 25. He is charged with one count of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.
A driver has been arrested and charged after a head-on crash left a woman dead early Sunday morning.
The crash happened at the 6800 block of Culebra Road at about 2:35 a.m.
Officers said the driver of a green 2003 Chevy Suburban was traveling westbound on Culebra when he crossed over into the opposite lane and struck a silver Mitsubishi Outlander Sport head-on. The driver of the Mitsubishi, identified as 29-year-old Lizette Flores Corona, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two of her passengers were sent to the hospital in critical condition.
Police evaluated the driver of the Suburban and determined that he was intoxicated, according to a spokeswoman with the San Antonio Police Department. He was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.
