GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- They are the Best of the Class.

Hundreds of area graduates gathered for an event Wednesday at the Lambeau Field Atrium. FOX 11's Tom Milbourn and Michelle Melby hosted the event.

Caps and gowns of every color filled the Atrium on this morning. Area seniors are graduating at the top of their class, and a new journey is about to begin.

"It's kind of emotional for me, because it's been a goal of mine for so long and really this is the first time when I've really felt like wow, I did it," said Carissa Delain of Hortonville High School. "I finally accomplished the goal I've had for so long."

Hundreds of students from 100 districts attended the event Wednesday morning.

They listened to guest speakers such as Green Bay Packers all-time leading rusher Ahman Green, who spoke about about finding a passion in life.

"It was wonderful to hear them talk about the struggles we've been through," said Nolan Torres of N.E.W. Lutheran High School. "It was a great trip down memory lane for me. It brought back memories of sitting in class, even if I didn't want to be there."

FOX 11 has been part of the Best of the Class celebration for 18 years.

"This Best of the Class event has just grown to be a phenomenal opportunity to gather everybody together and to celebrate," said FOX 11/CW 14 General Manager Jay Zollar.

For sure, one of the highlights of the experience is being a part a short video clip. It's always fun to see how creative the students can be.

The students also had some advice for younger students.

"Keep going. It gets better and looking back, you'll feel a lot of accomplishment and you'll feel really great about what you did," said Audrey Makope of Neenah High School.

"Definitely take your freshman and sophomore years seriously," said Jacob Bakich of Hortonville High School. " Lots of people don't. They don't realize the importance of that."

"Believe in yourself. Be yourself. And know who you are and be strong with who you are, and work for it," Wei Chang of N.E.W. Lutheran.

Best of luck to this year's Best of the Class.

The Best of the Class video clips will be airing on FOX 11 and will be posted on throughout the summer. You'll start to see them around mid-June.
