Calif. highway closed to high-profile vehicles after winds topple big rigs
A portion of Highway 58 is closed to high-profile vehicles because of strong winds that have overturned around 15 big rigs in the Kern County desert.
California Highway Patrol Officer Robert Rodriguez said they are stopping high-profile vehicles, such as tractor-trailers, on Hwy. 58 between Bakersfield and Tehachapi.
The winds are strong in the mountains, but the overturned trucks appear to all be in the Mojave desert.
Rodriguez said there are injuries with the overturned trucks, but he didn't know the severity.
A wind advisory is in effect in the area.
