DHS using federal tax dollars to fund programs that attack conservatives, documents show
WASHINGTON (TND) — A federal anti-terrorism program is now using American taxpayer dollars to fund programs that attack conservatives.
Originally, the $40 million Department of Homeland Security program was designed to fight domestic terrorism.
Through FOIA requests, the Media Research Center, which is a conservative watchdog group, obtained documents showing DHS gave the University of Dayton a $352,109 grant for a program that the school said will combat “domestic violence extremism and hate”.
In their application for the grant, the university links to a conference that included a pyramid illustrating the levels of domestic terrorism. It starts with Fox News, the NRA, the Christian Broadcast Network, the Heritage Foundation and the Republican Party. One level up is Breitbart, MAGA, PragerU and Turning Point USA. The next tier is Nazis.
That's not all," said Brent Bozell, who is the founder and president of Media Research Center. "One speaker was associating Ron DeSantis with the Holocaust. Another was associating Donald Trump with Paul Pot, the genocide guy. They are going directly against free speech. Mark my words this is an attempt to shut down anything that goes against the narrative."
This is another piece of evidence of a completely weaponized government," said Mike Howell, who is the director of oversight at the Heritage Foundation. "Honestly see a government that’s being occupied by this regime that needs to build a narrative that there are white supremacists everywhere and neo-Nazi's everywhere."
Howell finds the pyramid absurd.
It’s not just us who work there -- it’s our 500,000 members throughout the entire country who they basically just called white supremacists and terrorists. We’re not going to take it. We’re suing them really hard. We want to know every instance in which our name was uttered over there," Howell added.
The Media Research Center also sent their findings to House Republicans to use in their current investigation into the weaponization of the federal government.
