Waushara Co. woman reaches plea deal in tax fraud case
WAUTOMA (WLUK) -- A Waushara County woman has pleaded no contest to tax fraud charges.
Prosecutors say Carrie Acker, 39, overstated how much tax was withheld when filing her family's tax returns from the 2010-2013 tax years.
According to the criminal complaint, she received more than $4,700 worth of refunds she was not entitled to.
She told state officials she did it "to save money."
Acker originally faced four counts, but pleaded to two as part of a plea bargain.
She is scheduled to be sentenced April 27.
