Waupaca man convicted of 14th OWI
WAUPACA (WLUK) – A Waupaca man was convicted of his 14th drunk driving count.
Daniel Nordell entered a no contest plea Tuesday to a count of operating while intoxicated, 10th or more offense. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 10, court records show.
Nordell, 64, was arrested after hitting a mailbox, a speed limit sign and utility pole in Farmington on May 24. A preliminary breath test – which isn’t admissible in court – revealed a BAC of .17%, more than double the usual legal limit, and well above the .02% limit he had due to previous convictions.
The maximum sentence would be 15 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
Nordell was sentenced to three years in prison after his last conviction in 2006.
