ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WLUK) -- On Wednesday, Brown County took a huge step toward its new expo center.
Construction crews started by clipping support beams of the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena. After two hours, the building came crashing down.
Here is the view from Bart Starr Plaza in front of the Resch Center:
The force of the collapse send a construction vehicle back rocking back.
Here is an image FOX 11 News captured while the roof was falling. You can see the metal crumbling under the weight of the dome.
Some of that metal will be recycled, and a plan is underway to reuse concrete from the building.
This is video from FOX 11 Lambeau Cam that shows the moment of impact. On impact the building kicked up a storm of dust.
The area was built in 1958. It will be replaced by a $93 million facility. Construction is expected to be complete by January of 2021.
Green Bay Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy believes the new expo center could help Green Bay land a future NFL Draft.
