GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- A local Girl Scout troop paid tribute to three fellow Girl Scouts, and a mother killed last week.

Troop 4029 held a vigil at the Brown County Courthouse Saturday.

They collected cards and donations to hand deliver to the victims' families.

The troop is also creating a special community service badge in memory of the girls.

The troop says the goal of the vigil is to make the world a better place in the victims' honor.

"We're honoring the girls and it's kind of like respecting them and being nice," said Arabelle Steffel with Girl Scout troop 4029.

Three Girl Scouts and a mother were picking up trash on the side of the road when they were hit and killed by a car.

Six hundred additional troops had vigils at the same time Saturday, in honor of the four killed.
