Two Rivers woman arrested in high-speed chase
TWO RIVERS (WLUK) -- A woman was arrested after stealing a vehicle and leading Manitowoc County authorities on a high-speed chase, reaching up to 80 mph.
The pursuit started shortly after a Two Rivers man returned home around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday to find a person stealing his car.
The owner tried to stop the suspect from leaving his yard but the suspect drove off, striking the owner's garage before fleeing on E. State Highway 310.
A short time later, a deputy spotted the stolen vehicle on Waldo Blvd. near N. 23rd Street in Manitowoc.
Efforts to get the driver to pull over were unsuccessful. As the driver tried to turn onto N. Rapids Road, the driver sideswiped an SUV, deputies say.
The pursuit ended when the driver lost control on County Highway R, near Redwood Drive and crashed. The driver tried to run away from the scene but was caught by deputies.
The driver, a 19-year-old Two Rivers girl, was taken into custody.
The driver of the SUV, a 76-year-old Manitowoc woman, was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
