ASHWAUBENON (WLUK) -- A cold, clear day brought some first-time skaters to the Titletown Ice Rink Saturday.

U.S. Figure Skating provided group skating lessons to skaters of all skill levels at Titletown's first-ever "SkateFest."

The free event brought instructors to teach the basics of figure skating.

The organization hopes that it will encourage people to get on the ice.

"Our mission with Learn to Skate USA is just to instill that lifelong love of skating, and to get as many people on the ice as possible. So for us to host free events across the country, just supports our mission and what we want to do," said Kimberly Hines, U.S. Figure Skating Membership development director.

Those running the event say they're happy with the turnout.

They also hope to have future skating events at Titletown.
