GREEN BAY, Wis. (WLUK) -- Staffing challenges continue to plague local businesses.

In a Facebook post, Mangiare in Downtown Green Bay saying the restaurant is closed through the end of the month.

Executive Chef Jack Wozniczka says the problem was highlighted on Tuesday evening.

"We were going to close for that night and try to make the rest of the week," said Wozniczka. "Discussed it with our management team and decided to take a couple of weeks, regroup, get everything back in order."

The restaurant is looking for line cooks, a sous chef, bartenders, and servers.

"It got to a point where we just didn't have enough people in the kitchen to run the place," said Wozniczka.

He adds employees were nervous when they heard of the closing.

That was until staff realized they were temporarily being moved to Republic Chophouse.

"I'm just bringing them over here, training them up over here so they can get their hours," Wozniczka said. "They have kids to feed still, they have bills to pay, so we wanted to make sure that everyone stayed working."

The original plan was for Mangiare to be closed until the end of the month, but things have changed over the last couple of days. The new reopening date, is now June 27.

It's due to a couple of positions being filled.

"Tuesday found someone, and then I had a couple of interviews today. One of them is for sure joining us, the other one we're still talking to," Wozniczka said.
