This is an email message that was shared with FDL High School parents on the afternoon of May 22:

On Tuesday, May 22nd, at 12:20 p.m., a Fond du Lac High School student brought to the attention of school administration and officers a shared snapchat message that was threatening in nature. The message referred to an earlier time of 10:45 a.m. and did not mention a specific school or location. Following the school’s emergency crisis plan, an investigation was initiated. By 12:25 p.m. law enforcement and school administration found the origins of the snapchat to be from a student, and about a school, located in North Carolina. Authorities in North Carolina were contacted and the origins of the snapchat were confirmed.

School district personnel recognize how stressful these types of situations are. They appreciate the trust of parents as situations are evaluated and decisions are made based on the information that is available at the time.
