Schultz pleads not guilty in drug overdose death case
CHILTON (WLUK) – The man who allegedly provided the drugs used in a fatal overdose pleaded not guilty Tuesday.
Evan Schultz is charged with first-degree reckless homicide for allegedly providing the carfentanil which killed a woman at an Appleton apartment on April 16, 2017.
The victim’s name has not been released.
Schultz waived a preliminary hearing Tuesday, and pleaded not guilty. He returns to court Sept. 10 for a status conference. No trial date has been set, according to court records.
Security camera video from a convenience store shows the two meeting hours before her death. Another jail inmate told police Schultz described the sale to him, the complaint states.
