Salcherts Meats in Fond du Lac County issues recall on meat products
MADISON (WLUK) -- Salcherts Meats in St. Cloud is issuing a recall on several meat products from its retail location.
The Fond du Lac County business is recalling its dried beef, beef jerky and smoked frozen chicken sold on or before Sept. 14.
This is a Class I recall, which means there is a reasonable chance that eating the meat would cause serious health consequences or death. Consumers are encouraged to get rid of the products if they purchased them.
The state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection says the recall was initiated due to evidence collected during a routine inspection.
State inspectors found that the products were produced without an approved formula and without an appropriate Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point food safety plan.
No illnesses have been reported as a result of eating the products.
