Retirement residents' calendar inspires healthy living and supports local women
FOX CROSSING, Wis. (WLUK) -- A group of calendar girls is making a difference for domestic abuse victims in the Fox Valley.
Twelve residents of Touchmark on West Prospect retirement community in Fox Crossing created a unique 2019 calendar to help raise money for Harbor House, a domestic violence shelter in Appleton.
Each month features a photo of a resident and tips on healthy living and fitness.
Resident Marge Willis, aka Miss September, was inspired by the idea of calendar after realizing positive results from fitness classes at Touchmark.
“I developed muscles, energy, and strength after training, and thought it was important to engage others in a more active lifestyle,” Willis says.
Touchmark's health and fitness coordinator, Calissa Palches, says the photos are more than just glamour shots.
“These ladies are great examples of active aging,” Palches said. “All are engaged in the classes we offer at Touchmark and/or in personal training sessions that are designed for long-term health and fitness.”
The $8 calendar is available at Touchmark, with a portion of the proceeds going to Harbor House.
