MENASHA (WLUK) -- In honor of a life taken too soon, people across the Fox Valley committed random acts of kindness Friday.

Olivia Stoffel, 12, was killed during the Trestle Trail shooting on May 3rd, 2015 along with her father Jon and an unrelated man, Adam Bentdahl.

Every year on her birthday, Dec. 7, the community celebrates her life by spreading kindness.

Throughout the day, community members posted random acts of kindness on Olivia's Heart, a Facebook page dedicated to the cause.

On Friday, Menasha police officers could be seen handing out gift cards and treats.

"I think just the little gestures of kindness and goodness in the world go a long way. In my profession, you don't get a lot of that sometimes, so I like paying that forward to other people," said Menasha police officer, Dan Hoernke.

At the Building for Kids Children's Museum, employees were given kind words and cupcakes from Happy Bellies Bake Shop in Appleton.

Friday would have been Olivia's 15th birthday.
