Police: 3 Fond du Lac teens involved in threat against high school
FOND DU LAC (WLUK) -- Three students at Fond du Lac High School who police say were trying to get a school day canceled were arrested in connection with a social media threat against the school.
Police said Monday the message was posted on Snapchat by a 16-year-old boy in Arkansas who had previous ties to the Fond du Lac area. It read, “Attention Fondy Highschool [sic] students - I’ve been informed that there is going to be a school shooting tomorrow (3/5/18). I don’t know if this is true but I wouldn’t trust it don’t go to school tomorrow!”
The Arkansas teen was playing video games online with the Fond du Lac teens when they came up with the idea to post the threat, police say.
Investigators say the threat posted on Snapchat was “meant as a joke.” Police say they have not found any evidence that the teens intended to carry out a violent act at the school.
The threat led to an increased police presence at the school on Monday. No incidents were reported in connection with the threat.
The three teens from Fond du Lac are being referred to Fond du Lac County Juvenile Court Services on possible charges of being party to the crime of making terrorist threats.
