Piano teacher convicted of sexually assaulting student
GREEN BAY (WLUK) – A piano teacher accused of inappropriately touching two of his students was convicted of two counts and acquitted of two counts at trial.
James Widiger, a former Howard Trustee, was convicted Thursday night by a jury of two counts of repeated sexual assault of the same child, and acquitted of second-degree sexual assault and misdemeanor disorderly conduct, court records show.
Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 21.
The convictions were incidents with a girl, then 14. She told police Widiger repeatedly touched her under her shirt during a period of several years. The complaint divided up the assaults into two time periods, with at least three assaults allegedly happening in each period.
Widiger was acquitted on allegations from a girl, then 13, who told police he put his hand on her buttocks and patted her.
