(WLUK) -- The state has sold 559,217 deer hunting licenses as of midnight Monday -- an increase of about 1% compared to same timeframe in 2017, the DNR says.
Last year, a total of 824,475 licenses were sold.
Of the 330,234 licenses purchased in purchased in person, the most have been sold in Brown County: 18,398. The other 228,993 licenses were bought online, the state says.
The annual 9-day gun deer hunting season starts at daylight Saturday.
