OCONTO COUNTY - Fire officials say the frigid weather was a major issue while battling a blaze near Pulaski. The fire started in a garage Wednesday at about 2:30 p.m. and spread to two homes in the Pleasant View Trailer Park. With fire trucks from three counties going up and down his road, Jerry Poquette could only watch helplessly from his car as a fire ripped through his mobile home.“All at once I heard my neighbor holler 'fire, fire I can't stop it,” said Poquette. “I just grabbed what I had on the desk and I went out the door and grabbed my car and pulled out of the driveway. By that time the flames were shooting so high and I knew my trailer was going to be gone.”Pulaski's fire chief, Randy Wichlacz, says the fire started in Poquette's neighbors' garage.“The owner that was home said he was pumping some tires up with a compressor inside the garage and then that's the last thing that he remembers, all of a sudden there was fire,” said Wichlacz.Everyone was able to get out safely but the garage and two mobile homes are destroyed. The fire chief says the wind and cold helped the fire spread. He says the weather also made things difficult for the one hundred firefighters on scene.“A lot of people had to go through rehab,” said Wichlacz. As for the people who lost their homes, they say they have places to stay while they try to get back on their feet.“A disaster I'll never forget the rest of my life,” said Poquette.[caption id="attachment_81285" align="alignnone" width="300"] Some flames can be seen through the smoke at a mobile home park fire in Pulaski.
