Suspected shooter in custody after overnight shooting in Green Bay
GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- A 25-year-old man is in custody following an overnight shooting in Green Bay.
Police say shortly before 1 a.m., a 23-year-old man was was shot in the 1800 block of Western Avenue.
Green Bay Police Captain Kevin Warych says the shooting wasn't random, and hopes it offers some relief to residents in the area.
"In situations like this we understand that it causes a lot of fear in the community and the people involved knew each other. This is not a random act and hopefully that provides some relief to community people," Warych said.
The victim underwent surgery Monday and remains hospitalized, police say.
Investigators believe the 25-year-old man they have arrested is the shooter in the case. His name has not been released.
Officers do not think the public is in any danger.
