NEENAH (WLUK) -- A man hit by a train Sunday morning in Neenah has died.

Neenah police and the Winnebago County coroner's office identified the man as Timothy C. Miller.

Police said Monday that the 28-year-old Menasha man was a passenger in a vehicle headed southbound on Lake Street. The vehicle had stopped for a northbound train at the crossing. Miller wanted to get to a location on the other side of the crossing and chose to leave the car and walk there. As he walked through the stopped northbound train, he was hit by a second train traveling southbound.

Investigators say the warning devices at the crossing, such as overhead and roadside flashing lights, bells and gates were all working properly at the time of the incident, police said Monday.
