Man convicted in Green Bay accidental shooting of friend

Bryant Ellis (Brown Co. Jail)

GREEN BAY (WLUK) – A man who accidentally shot and killed his friend was convicted Monday.

Bryant Ellis pleaded no contest to first-degree reckless homicide for the Feb. 20 death of Andrew Tohulka. Sentencing is scheduled for March 2.

Two other counts were dismissed.

According to the criminal complaint, Ellis told an officer that he didn't know the gun was loaded, he was just joking around and he couldn't believe he shot his friend. Investigators say Ellis admitted he and Tohulka were drinking and smoking marijuana before the incident. The shooting happened at an east-side home.
