OSHKOSH (WLUK) – A charge of recklessly endangering safety was filed Wednesday against a man involved in a standoff with police in Neenah on Monday.
Eric Vandenboogaard, 30, is also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, and two counts of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Vandenboogaard appeared in court Wednesday with a cash bond of $2,500 set.
Vandenboogaard and another man argued, the criminal complaint states. Vandenboogaard grabbed a gun and fired it. The bullet struck a mattress. A neighbor came over and got the gun, and locked it in his safe, according to the complaint.
Police escorted the man Vandenboogaard argued with, and his mother, out of the residence. Eventually, Vandenboogaard was arrested. He told police he did not mean for the gun to off, and did not point it at the victim. He also told police he had perhaps 10 beers that day, the complaint states.
Vandenboogaard returns to court Sept. 20 for a preliminary hearing.
