Local businesses take a huge hit due to Blizzard Evelyn
GREEN BAY (WLUK) --With Blizzard Evelyn turning out to be worse than expected, several high schools hoping to have prom Saturday night were forced to cancel due to the weather.
Those cancellations created chaos not only for students but some businesses as well.
"I came in this morning and had about 50 calls within a half hour so our phone lines were lighting up. It was concerned parents worried that they were going to lose money," said Shaun Kornusky a manager at Manager at Men's Wearhouse in Green Bay.
Flower shop owner Douglas Schmit also took a loss due to the cancellation of prom and said in his 20 years of being in the business he has never heard of a prom being canceled.
"My door should be dinging, there should be people coming and going but its been a ghost town. I've been doing a lot of running around this morning, battling with mother nature and snow plows. This is crazy," said Schmit.
The Green Bay School District said they plan to reschedule the proms for a later date.
