SHEBOYGAN (WLUK) -- The public will have a chance to voice their opinions and concerns at an open house for the master plan amendment for a proposed Kohler golf course.

The open house for a proposed 18-hole golf course adjacent to Kohler-Andrae State Park is planned for Thursday, Aug. 24 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Sheboygan Falls High School gymnasium, 220 Amherst Avenue.

The Kohler Company wants to build the golf course on land it owns, north of the park.

The project site is along the Lake Michigan shoreline in an undeveloped area known as the Black River Forest.

The company is looking to use approximately 5 acres of park property for access to the golf course, the construction of a maintenance facility and for utilities access to electricity, sewer and water.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources approved initiating a master plan amendment process at its June meeting.
