CHILTON (WLUK) – A Calumet County committee discussed a possible half-cent county sales tax Tuesday, but took no action.

The Administrative Services Committee will discuss it again at its Sept. 12 meeting, according to county administrator, Todd Romenesko.

The full County Board would have to vote on the issue, and nothing is scheduled before the board, he said.

The tax would generate about $2.5-$3 million per year.

Kewaunee County added a sales tax April 1. Brown County will add it on Jan. 1. According to the state, the only other counties that do not impose the tax are: Manitowoc, Menominee, Outagamie, Racine, Waukesha and Winnebago.
