Ephraim votes to allow alcohol sales

EPHRAIM — After more than a century and a half, a village in Door County voted to lift the ban on alcohol sales Tuesday.

Ephraim voters decided to allow beer sales at businesses and allow restaurants to sell wine.

The referendum had two questions on the ballot:

Should businesses be allowed to sell beer?

Yes: 127

No: 98

Should restaurants be allowed to sell wine?

Yes: 152

No: 73

Ephraim has been a dry village since it was founded in 1853 and twice the village had refused to approve any change.
