KIMBERLY (WLUK) -- A riverfront residential project is moving forward in Kimberly.

The village board approved the planned use development plan Monday for The Blue at the Trail, the latest addition to The Cedars riverfront development at the former NewPage Paper Mill site.

The first building of the project will contain 45 owner-occupied condominium units that will range from 800 square feet to 1,970 square feet, with one, two and three bedrooms. The building will have enclosed parking, private patios and balconies and common rooftop plazas with most units having views of the Fox River.

“The village of Kimberly is pleased that the project is moving forward,” said Maggie Mahoney, Kimberly Village Administrator. “The village and its partners are investing thoughtful attention in order to craft a high-quality neighborhood that will redevelop valuable river-front property, add value to the village, and offer quality amenities for the community.”

Work to install water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure at the site is underway with construction on the first building expected to begin in the fall. Additional phases of the project are planned to begin approximately every six months.
