APPLETON (WLUK) -- After three years, Appleton's sister city in Japan will be resuming its annual two-week cultural exchange program.
Appleton teenagers and adults are getting ready to leave for Kanonji on July 11. But as Appletonians are preparing to head to Japan, the Kanonji Appleton Partnership is looking for host families in Appleton to open up their homes.
Waiting for Japan to lift its COVID-19 travel restrictions put the program behind schedule for planning the summer exchange. Because of this, the program says it is "in extreme need" of host families.

Host families would welcome Kanonji friends into their homes for one or two weeks between July 27 and Aug. 8.
Since the partnership between Kanonji and Appleton began over three decades ago, hundreds of citizens have traveled to each other's cities.
