Jury: Flatoff did not suffer mental disease or defect in Neenah standoff
OSHKOSH, Wis. (WLUK) -- A jury has determined Brian Flatoff did not suffer a mental disease or defect during a fatal standoff with police in Neenah.
Sentencing is scheduled for May 16. The maximum prison sentence on all the charges totals nearly 300 years.
Flatoff was found guilty of causing the death of Michael Funk during the standoff with police. Officers thought that Funk was the hostage-taker and shot and killed him. The officers were later cleared in the shooting.
In 2016, Flatoff pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.
