Hobart woman struck by car while crossing the road

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Betty Niespodzany.

Police say the driver will not be ticketed or criminally charged.


HOBART (WLUK) - A 78-year-old Hobart woman was killed while crossing the road Monday night.

Authorities were called around 5: 45 p.m. to the 2100 block of S. Pine Tree Road.

The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department says it appears a vehicle driven by a 57-year-old Green Bay man, struck the woman as she tried to cross the street.

She died at the scene.

Names are being withheld at this time pending the notification of family members.

Members of the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department, the Hobart Fire Department, Brown County Rescue, the Oneida Police Department, and the Brown County Sheriff’s Department were on the scene.
