Preparations begin for 'Pulling for Honor' event
GREENVILLE (WLUK) -- A rehearsal was held in Greenville Friday to move a 200,000-pound FedEx A-300 aircraft.
It's part of preparations for the upcoming "Pulling for Honor" airplane pull.
In September, 25 teams will compete to see who can pull the aircraft 12 feet the fastest.
All money raised will benefit the Old Glory Honor Flight and organizers say the work is worth the reward.
"Appleton airport is a partner with Old Glory Honor Flight. We just had the Old Glory Honor Flight's 40th mission. The veterans are very dear to us and anything we can do to support the Old Glory Honor Flight is part of our mission," said Appleton International Airport marketing manager, Pat Tracey.
To be eligible to compete, teams must raise a minimum of $1,500 to compete.
Organizers hope to raise $75,000, which is the cost to run one honor flight to Washington D.C.
The group's next flights are scheduled for July 28 from EAA and then September and October from Appleton International Airport.
