ONEIDA RESERVATION (WLUK) -- The Oneida Nation has elected Ron "Tehassi" Hill as the new Oneida Business Committee chairman for the next three years.

Hill is replacing Tina Danforth, who chose not to run this term.

There are 10 days for anyone to challenge the election, but Hill is expected to accept the election results on August 9, 2017. He will be sworn in during an inauguration ceremony on August 10.

Brandon Yellowbird Stevens was also elected as the new vice Chairman. Stevens ran for this seat for the time, however he has served many terms as a councilman.

There were several other elected positions filled throughout the Oneida Nation, some including re-elected officials such as Treasurer Trish King, Secretary Debra Powless, and Council members Jenny Webster and David Jordan.

The Oneida Nation says a more complete list of the election results will be available on Monday.
