Murder-suicide suspected in Green Bay deaths
GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Green Bay Police are investigating what they believe is a murder-suicide.
The man and woman were found around 11 o’clock this morning in their home in the 1200 block of Division Street on the city's west side.
A call for a man needing medical help brought police officers to the home. Police say the medical call came from someone who went to the house to check on the people living there.
“In the investigation, officers and investigators located evidence that led us to believe this was a murder-suicide, thus we believe there is no threat to the community nor is there any danger to the community,” said Captain Kevin Warych of the Green Bay Police Department.
Investigators aren't sure yet how long the two might have been dead.
“But in our preliminary stages, it's probably in the last couple days, the last day or two,” said Warych.
Authorities aren't releasing the names of the people killed, only saying they both lived in the home and were in their mid-50s.
Police also aren't saying how they might have died. However, they did say at least one of the individuals died of a gunshot wound.
“Right now the forensics unit is inside the house, processing the crime scene, collecting evidence that I mentioned,” said Warych. “Now we're working with the Dane County Medical Examiner to have the medical examiner come out and assess the cause of death.”
Police say a cat was also shot and killed in the home.
